Philadelphia, PA – June 22, 2025
In Philadelphia, one rookie is turning heads across the organization. Despite being a Day 3 draft pick, he’s emerging as one of the most talked-about surprises of the offseason. According to him, it’s not luck—it’s something much deeper.
"I’ve never experienced anything like this," he told The Philly Special Show. "From the structure, to the urgency, to the way every player is held accountable—it’s different here. It forces you to level up fast. That’s why I’m playing the way I am."
The voice behind that quote? Sixth-round quarterback Kyle McCord. Since being drafted by the Eagles in 2025, McCord has surged ahead in the competition for the QB3 spot, drawing praise for his poise, accurate throws, and commanding presence in the pocket. He’s reportedly distancing himself from Dorian Thompson-Robinson, acquired in the Kenny Pickett trade.
Philly Voice’s Jimmy Kempski recently noted that McCord is “confident, sharp, and has clearly separated himself.” His pre-existing relationship with quarterbacks coach Scot Loeffler, dating back over a decade, has only accelerated his progress.
But McCord insists his improvement isn’t just about scheme or relationships. “What makes Philly different is that it’s not just about reps—it’s about mindset. Every meeting, every film session, every throw—it’s intense, focused, and personal. You either keep up, or get left behind.”
Once questioned for his consistency in college, McCord has silenced doubters with a rapid grasp of the Eagles’ system. Veteran players reportedly see him as more mature than your average rookie quarterback.
With training camp fast approaching, McCord’s momentum is making it hard to deny him a roster spot. And perhaps more importantly, his rise is a testament to Philadelphia’s culture of turning players into competitors.
"This place brings out the best in you," McCord said. "And I’m just getting started."
