Pittsburgh, PA – July 5, 2025
All eyes are on Aaron Rodgers, DK Metcalf, and Jalen Ramsey as the Steelers continue to reshape their roster for an all-in 2025 campaign — but behind the scenes, another move could quietly complete Pittsburgh’s transformation into a true Super Bowl contender.
The wide receiver room, once built around George Pickens, now belongs to Metcalf. But even with that blockbuster acquisition, the Steelers still lack a clear WR2. That’s why rumors of one more big-name signing are igniting buzz across the AFC North.
Enter Gabe Davis.
The former Buffalo Bills deep threat — nicknamed “Big Game Gabe” — has emerged as a top target for the Steelers, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler. Davis, who previously met with Pittsburgh’s front office and reportedly “really enjoyed” the interaction, is being strongly considered as training camp approaches. He remains unsigned after a short-lived stint with the Jaguars, where a down year (239 yards, 2 TDs) failed to reflect his true potential.
But let’s not forget the real version of Gabe Davis — the one who torched defenses in the postseason with six playoff touchdowns between 2021 and 2022, and who logged 836 yards and seven scores in 2022 alone. He owns a career average of 16.2 yards per reception. When healthy and trusted, Davis doesn’t just stretch the field — he opens it wide.
And that’s exactly what Pittsburgh needs.
With Rodgers commanding the offense, Metcalf drawing top corners, and Jonnu Smith, Pat Freiermuth, and Jaylen Warren rounding out the skill group, Davis could be the final piece in one of the league’s most dangerous arsenals. He won’t be asked to carry the load — just to do what he does best: make big plays in big moments.
Steelers fans are starting to feel it. One more signing, one more spark — and this offense might just be ready to catch fire.
