It started as a whisper — now it's growing into a roar. The Baltimore Ravens, never afraid of bold defensive reinforcements, are being projected to pull the trigger on one of the most aggressive moves of the offseason. According to The Sporting News, Baltimore is gaining traction in a potential trade for a $45 million interior defensive force that could change the complexion of their front seven — and turn Justin Madubuike into an even bigger nightmare for opposing quarterbacks.
“If this happens, the Ravens might field the most disruptive interior line duo in the AFC,” an anonymous NFC scout reportedly told the outlet. The target? A veteran tackle whose resume includes All-Pro-caliber production, elite run-stuffing ability, and a consistent motor that matches Baltimore's defensive DNA.
With Madubuike already establishing himself as a cornerstone of the defense — coming off a career-high 13 sacks and earning his massive extension — the Ravens are now looking to complement him with a player who can take the pressure off and collapse pockets from the opposite side. Baltimore’s system under defensive coordinator Zach Orr thrives when it has chaos in the trenches, and this move would deliver exactly that.
“Pairing a monster like that next to Madubuike forces teams to pick their poison,” a league source told Sporting News. “And with Roquan Smith cleaning up behind them, that’s a three-layer wall that very few can break.”
Financially, this wouldn’t be easy. The $45M price tag is steep — both in cap and draft capital — but there’s growing belief the Ravens could restructure key contracts or work out a deal that includes cap flexibility. The player in question is reportedly open to restructuring if he’s dealt to a contender, and there are few destinations more appealing than Baltimore right now.
With the addition of Derrick Henry on offense and DeAndre Hopkins turning heads in OTAs, this is shaping up to be an all-in year for John Harbaugh’s squad. Adding one more force of nature on defense could be the final move that positions the Ravens as the most balanced team in football — physical, relentless, and dangerous on every snap.
“It’s no longer about patching holes,” said one Ravens veteran. “It’s about going for the kill.”
And if this deal goes through, the rest of the AFC better brace for the storm headed their way.
