Ravens May Have Just Found Their Next Kicking Legend

Baltimore, MD – June 9, 2025

With Justin Tucker still cemented as one of the greatest kickers in NFL history, no one expected a quiet challenger to emerge from the shadows. But in the early stages of the Ravens’ offseason program, one new leg is starting to draw serious attention — and maybe even admiration.

That leg belongs to rookie Tyler Loop, a former standout from the University of Arizona. Originally brought in as camp depth, Loop has done far more than just fill in. He’s hitting from long range, booming kickoffs with elite hang time, and—more importantly—impressing the right people.

“He’s got a calm confidence about him,” said Special Teams Coordinator Chris Horton. “You see it in how he lines up, how he hits the ball. He doesn’t shy away from pressure.”

Loop’s performance in OTAs has reportedly been nothing short of flawless. According to insiders, he hasn’t missed a kick during open media sessions and has consistently nailed kicks from beyond 50 yards. While no one is suggesting he’s here to unseat Tucker just yet, his development is now worth watching.

At 6-foot and 200 pounds, Loop brings a compact, repeatable motion and an approach reminiscent of some of the league’s rising young specialists. He doesn’t just have leg strength — he has control, which has always been a hallmark of Baltimore’s elite special teams culture.

The presence of Justin Tucker means Loop’s path to meaningful snaps in 2025 remains blocked. But the Ravens know better than most how valuable insurance at kicker can be — especially as Tucker enters the latter stages of his Hall of Fame career. And if Loop continues to perform like this, it’s not far-fetched to imagine teams around the league calling Baltimore before the preseason ends.

“If he’s not on an active roster by Week 1,” one AFC executive noted, “he’ll be one of the first calls made if anyone has an injury or a slump. The kid can kick.”

For now, the Ravens have the luxury of watching a potential gem develop under the best to ever do it. And if Tyler Loop keeps this up, Baltimore’s future at kicker might already be waiting in the wings.
