Baltimore’s fan base was left reeling this week when a former franchise icon, once hailed as the most accurate kicker in league history, was suspended by the NFL for violating its personal conduct policy. His suspension, effective immediately, will sideline him for the first 10 games of the 2025 season — a seismic fall from grace for a player who once epitomized clutch reliability at M&T Bank Stadium.
Despite no longer being under contract, the league confirmed that he will serve the suspension while unsigned and will be eligible for reinstatement on November 11. The move all but ends his legendary tenure in Baltimore, a city where his right leg once felt invincible.
That player is Justin Tucker, the seven-time Pro Bowler and five-time All-Pro who redefined consistency at the kicker position. But his final months in purple and black unraveled amid disturbing allegations. Released by the Ravens on May 5, 2025, Tucker was at the center of an ongoing investigation involving multiple accusations of sexual misconduct spanning eight high-end spas in Baltimore between 2012 and 2016. Sixteen women have come forward with claims. Tucker, 35, has publicly denied all wrongdoing.
Until recently, Tucker’s name was synonymous with greatness. An undrafted free agent out of Texas in 2012, he built a Hall of Fame résumé with 89.1% field goal accuracy, the best in NFL history. His 66-yard game-winner in 2021 became a part of NFL folklore. But 2024 was a turning point — he missed eight field goals and two extra points, finishing with the worst numbers of his career.
Now, the Ravens are turning the page. With their sixth-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, they selected Tyler Loop out of Arizona — a new leg to anchor special teams as Baltimore eyes Super Bowl LX.
For a city that once revered Tucker’s ice-cold confidence, this ending is both jarring and sobering. The legacy is fractured, the silence deafening. Whether he returns to an NFL field again remains uncertain. But one thing is clear: the Ravens, and the league, are moving on.
