Jalen Carter Is Feeding More Than Just the Defense

Philadelphia, PA – June 14, 2025

Jalen Carter may be the rising force at the heart of the Eagles' defense, but this week, he reminded the world that his impact reaches far beyond the gridiron. The 23-year-old All-Pro defensive tackle has officially launched his nonprofit foundation, Carter’s Cornerstone, with a mission that hits close to home: ending childhood hunger in Philadelphia, especially among children raised by grandparents and extended family.

“I remember what it’s like to go to school with an empty stomach,” Carter said during the launch event. “I told myself if I ever made it, I’d make sure kids back home didn’t have to feel that way.”

The foundation’s first initiative will focus on providing healthy meals, nutritional education, and emotional support to "grandfamilies" — a growing population of households where grandparents are primary caregivers. In collaboration with local schools, churches, and food programs, Carter’s team aims to create a sustainable network of food access for vulnerable children in the city.

But it’s not just a symbolic gesture. Carter is backing the project with his own money, committing a portion of his NFL salary to fund food drives, school-based nutrition programs, and direct support to families. And he’s not alone — several Eagles teammates, inspired by his leadership, have expressed interest in joining the cause.

Head coach Nick Sirianni praised Carter’s character off the field: “Jalen’s got the heart of a leader. What he’s doing now shows he’s thinking legacy — not just stats.”

For a player once known mainly for his brute strength and pass-rushing dominance, this chapter marks a powerful evolution. Carter is building something more than tackles and sacks — he’s building hope.

As Philadelphia rallies behind him, Carter’s Cornerstone is shaping up to be a lasting part of his identity — not just as a football star, but as a force for good in the very city that cheers his name on Sundays.

“This is home,” Carter said. “And nobody gets left behind in Philly.”
