He’s Been the Brains All Along — Now Kevin Patullo Gets the Spotlight

Philadelphia, PA – May 28, 2025

He’s been there through the highs, the heartbreaks, and most recently, the Super Bowl parade down Broad Street. For years, Kevin Patullo has operated quietly in the background, a critical but often overlooked mind in the Philadelphia Eagles’ offensive machine. Now, after earning the trust of head coach Nick Sirianni and the admiration of players like Jalen Hurts and Jordan Mailata, Patullo finally steps into the spotlight as the team’s new offensive coordinator — and no one inside the NovaCare Complex is surprised.

Patullo isn’t some wide-eyed newcomer handed a high-pressure gig on a championship team. He’s been an NFL journeyman with stints in Kansas City, Buffalo, Tennessee, New York, and Indianapolis, where he and Sirianni first built their chemistry. When he joined the Eagles in 2021 as passing game coordinator, few outside the building knew how vital his fingerprints would become on the offense. “He’s been very important to the success we’ve had,” Sirianni said. “I can’t tell you I make a decision without saying to Kevin first, ‘Whattya think?’”

The difference between Patullo and his predecessors? Experience — not just with X’s and O’s, but with this team, this quarterback, this city. In contrast to Brian Johnson’s rapid promotion with little NFL background, Patullo arrives with over a decade of league seasoning. He’s shaped game plans, mentored receivers and quarterbacks, and now has the chance to craft the entire attack.

More importantly, the players believe in him. “Great communicator. Very detailed, very open,” said Mailata. “It makes it easy for us to come to him with ideas.” That openness has already begun to breed confidence, especially as the Eagles prepare for the inevitable counter-punches from a league hungry to dethrone them.

There are challenges ahead. Defenses will scheme to shut down Saquon Barkley. Opponents will test Jalen Hurts’ limits. Every wrinkle Patullo installs will be dissected. But inside the locker room, there’s no fear — only belief that the guy who’s been helping run the show is now perfectly poised to lead it. “We’re not the hunters anymore,” said A.J. Brown. “We’re the hunted. We’ve got to evolve — and I think Kevin’s the guy who can take us there.”

The Eagles don’t just need a play-caller. They need a visionary. And for once, everyone is watching Kevin Patullo.
