Philadelphia, PA – July 5, 2025
The stars may headline, but sometimes it's the quiet risers who flip the narrative in Philly. While all eyes remain glued to Jalen Hurts, Saquon Barkley, A.J. Brown, and DeVonta Smith, a new face is quietly demanding attention — and he’s not wasting time doing it.
After a disappointing year from Jahan Dotson, who caught just 19 of 33 targets for 216 yards, the Eagles took a flier on Terrace Marshall Jr. this offseason. It was a quiet signing. No fanfare, no viral video. But the 6-foot-2 former second-rounder is starting to make real noise at the NovaCare Complex.
“He beat me clean on the slant. Can’t lie about that,” cornerback Cooper DeJean reportedly told coaches after minicamp, according to a team insider. It was one of several standout plays Marshall made during 7-on-7 drills with the first team — capped off by a touchdown catch from Hurts.
This is the same Marshall who’s bounced from Carolina to Vegas, labeled a bust after tallying just 808 yards and one touchdown across four years. But in Philadelphia, something feels different. Maybe it’s the system. Maybe it’s the culture. Maybe it’s the chip on his shoulder, grown heavier with every doubter.
Even DeVonta Smith took notice. “He brings a different body to the room. Big frame, versatile. I like it,” the Pro Bowl wideout said this spring. It’s not a glowing endorsement — but in a competitive WR room, any praise means you’re earning respect.
The Eagles aren’t asking Marshall to be a star. They’re asking him to be ready. And so far, he’s doing just that.
If this momentum carries into training camp and preseason, don’t be surprised if Terrace Marshall Jr. becomes this year’s under-the-radar steal — another Howie Roseman redemption arc waiting to happen.
