Philadelphia, PA – May 24, 2025 – As the defending Super Bowl champion Eagles begin OTAs at the NovaCare Complex, veterans and rookies alike are reporting for duty. But one familiar face from a past title run is still without a team — and for linebacker Kyzir White, the clock is ticking.
White, 29, was a key piece in the Eagles' 2022 Super Bowl run, providing consistent production in Jonathan Gannon’s defense. In that season, he posted 110 total tackles, 7 pass deflections, and played all 17 regular-season games. Though he made only one playoff start, White still recorded 11 tackles across three postseason games.
Following that year, White signed with the Arizona Cardinals on a two-year, $10 million deal to reunite with Gannon. In 2023, he again proved durable, starting 11 games. And in 2024, he played all 17 games, compiling 137 tackles, 8 QB hits, 2.5 sacks, and 1 interception — solid numbers by any measure.
But while the box score looks promising, advanced analytics paint a different story. According to Pro Football Focus, White earned:
-
48.8 overall grade (156th/189 LBs)
-
32.0 coverage grade (174th)
-
73.0 run defense grade (50th)
These numbers help explain why the veteran remains unsigned, despite his resume.
Still, it’s rare to find a linebacker with White’s experience and toughness just sitting in free agency as OTAs kick off. He may not be a star, but he’s a reliable depth option — and teams with thin linebacker rooms may come calling soon.
The Eagles have long since moved on, investing in young talent like Jihaad Campbell and re-signing All-Pro Zack Baun. But for a fan base that remembers the heart of that 2022 run, Kyzir White’s story isn’t quite over yet.
Keep an eye on teams like the Raiders, Chargers, or Titans — all in need of experienced linebacking help.
