Philadelphia, PA – May 28, 2025
Forget Jason Kelce — the heart, soul, and wall of the Eagles’ offensive line for over a decade. There’s a new name starting to generate whispers across the NovaCare Complex: Cameron Williams, the 21-year-old rookie who might just be the next immovable object in Philadelphia’s trenches.
Standing at 6-foot-6 and weighing 317 pounds, Williams was the Eagles’ sixth-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft — a spot that belied his potential. As OTAs kicked off, veterans took notice immediately. “I love our rookies. This is a great rookie class,” said All-Pro left tackle Jordan Mailata. “I told Cameron, ‘I don’t care if you come for my job. If you’re better than me, you’re going to be better than me. But I’m going to make it damn hard for you to reach that.’”
Williams dominated at Texas, starting 15 games at right tackle for a team that stormed into the College Football Playoff semifinals. Despite his youth — he entered the draft after his junior year — he played 37 career games and allowed just six sacks in over 600 pass-block snaps. That’s not just steady, it’s elite protection.
What makes Williams so tantalizing is not just his frame or footwork — it’s his mindset. The Duncanville, Texas native isn’t treating this as a learning year. He’s attacking every drill like he belongs on the field next to Lane Johnson. And in a locker room still reeling from the emotional retirement of Kelce, the emergence of another vocal, physical leader could not be more timely.
The Eagles aren’t asking Williams to be Kelce. But they just might be preparing for him to anchor the next generation of this storied offensive line — one pancake block at a time.
