Eagles Trade Former First-Round Receiver to Bills in Surprise Preseason Move

Philadelphia, PA – June 30, 2025

In a move that adds intrigue to both conferences, the Philadelphia Eagles have decided to part ways with one of their most underused weapons from the 2024 campaign, trading a former first-round wide receiver to the Buffalo Bills just weeks before training camp.

The Eagles, flush with receiving talent but limited in offensive snaps to go around, made the decision after evaluating their depth chart behind A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith. With new rookies emerging and internal priorities shifting, the front office saw an opportunity to gain future value rather than letting talent sit idle.

That player is Jahan Dotson — a once-promising first-round pick who struggled to find his footing in Philadelphia's crowded receiver room. After just 19 catches for 216 yards last season and no touchdowns, Dotson now heads to Buffalo in search of a larger role and a quarterback who can unlock his big-play ability.

“Sometimes it’s not about talent — it’s about fit,” one NFC personnel executive said. “Dotson still has plenty to prove in the right system.”

Buffalo gets another speedy option for Josh Allen, pairing Dotson with Keon Coleman, Khalil Shakir, and Dalton Kincaid. At just 25 years old, the former Penn State star has the chance to rewrite his narrative — and perhaps help push the Bills closer to the elusive Super Bowl goal.
