Eagles Owner Announces Documentary on Franchise Legend to Inspire Young Stars with Underdog Mentality

Philadelphia, PA – June 22, 2025

Philadelphia Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie announced a new documentary celebrating the legacy of team legend Jason Kelce, aiming to ignite the gritty, passionate spirit of Philly in the team’s young stars. Unveiled at a press conference at Lincoln Financial Field, the project honors Kelce’s underdog ethos as the Eagles chase a Super Bowl LX repeat.

“Jason Kelce embodies what it means to be an Eagle,” Lurie said, per ESPN. “He had no agent, no paycheck, and never held out. A legend who spent his entire career with the Eagles. He deserves our honor and to be a reminder for today’s players.” The film, produced by NFL Films and 9.14 Pictures, will premiere on Amazon Prime Video in 2026, following the 2023 hit “Kelce,” which topped U.S. charts in 24 hours.

Kelce, a six-time All-Pro center, retired in March 2024 after 13 seasons, leaving a towering legacy. Drafted in the sixth round in 2011, he started 156 consecutive games, won Super Bowl LII, and delivered an iconic Mummers-clad speech at the 2018 parade, chanting, “We’re from Philly, f**ing Philly, no one likes us, we don’t care,”* per Pro-Football-Reference.com. His 2024 season, with a seventh Pro Bowl and third straight All-Pro, cemented his Hall of Fame case.

The documentary will trace Kelce’s rise from a Cincinnati walk-on to Philly’s heartbeat, spotlighting his grit, seven surgeries, and off-field impact, like raising $1.25 million for charities through “A Philly Special Christmas” albums with Lane Johnson and Jordan Mailata. It will feature interviews with Jalen Hurts, Saquon Barkley, and rookie Jihaad Campbell, who credit Kelce’s leadership, per Bleeding Green Nation.

Lurie’s vision targets young Eagles like Campbell, a 2025 first-round pick, and Cooper DeJean, who embody Kelce’s underdog spirit. “Jason showed us the Philly way—tough, loyal, never quit,” Hurts said, per PhillyVoice. The film counters modern NFL trends of holdouts and drama, showcasing Kelce’s self-negotiated contracts and unwavering commitment, per The Athletic.

The Eagles’ 2024 dominance—averaging 28.9 points per game on offense and allowing 278.4 yards per game on defense—crushed Dallas 34-6, per NFL.com. With $30 million in 2026 cap space and 13 draft picks, the roster is built for another title under Nick Sirianni, per Spotrac. Lurie sees Kelce’s story as a rallying cry. “Philly’s spirit is our DNA,” Lurie said, per NBC Sports Philadelphia. “Jason’s film will fuel our players and fans.”

As the Eagles gear up for their Brazil opener, Kelce’s legacy looms large. Will his story spark another championship? Stay tuned to ESPN!
